PRESCHOOL
Welcome to Clever Cats Childcare Centre. We are conveniently located in the heart of Derrinturn Village, opposite St Conleths National School. We first opened our doors in March 2007 and have been nurturing the young children of the greater Carbury area ever since. We cater for children between the ages of 2 years 10 months and 5 years 6 months availing of the ECCE scheme. Our hours of opening are from 09.30- 12.30 each day Monday to Friday. Our premises consists of 2 class rooms which are bright, spacious and fully equipped, we have a recently added, covered outdoor space and a large outdoor playground. We have created a warm, caring, friendly, and nurturing environment for the young children in our care which is safe and secure.
EDUCATION
Through our nurturing, respectful and loving environment Clever Cats provides your child with invaluable skills that they will use through out their lives such as confidence, high self esteem, independence, problem solving, language development and encourages their curiosity, questioning and love of learning. We achieve this by utilising the Play-Based Curriculum, Aistear, as we believe young children have the right to play. Play is the child’s way of experiencing and learning more about the world around them. Through the act of playing, children learn about language and literacy, mathematical, engineering and scientific concepts and develop the skills of collaboration, negotiation and communication. The Play-Based curriculum is very much child-led focusing on the children’s existing and developing interests.
The educators in the room facilitate and support the children’s play and tease out and extend the learning that arises through play.
The indoor play learning environment is set up with different areas to accommodate this e.g. imaginative play areas i.e. kitchen/ home/shop/ small world areas, construction areas, messy areas, creative areas etc.
PLAYGROUND
Outdoor play is equally as important as indoor play and in Clever Cats we aim to utilise the outdoor space as much as possible. Each room has their own separate entrance and access to the outdoor space. Both rooms have a small outdoor space which is exclusive to their own room but also have access to a larger shared outdoor space at designated times. This allows each room to stay within their own play-pods but have access to all areas of the outdoor environment. The larger outdoor space provides room to run, use ride on toys, climb and use the slide, kick ball as well as a planting area while the smaller individual areas offer digging areas, sand and water play, small world play and outdoor kitchens etc.

Our classes are carefully crafted to meet the development needs of the each and every child. Our educators and support staff are highly professional and trained.
